Neat-O Deluxe Chrome-plated Steel Small Dish Drainers (Black)

I didn't think there would be so many factors to consider when buying a dish drying rack, but apparently people use them in a lot of different ways! I'll tell you how I use it and try to address some of the other ways as well. Apparently some people keep it in the sink, some people like being able to put it away in a cupboard when not in use, some people only use it for certain types of hand wash only dishes etc. Call us lazy, but I try to avoid buying/using hand wash only dishes at all costs. Also, our dish drying rack lives on the counter next to the sink. ALWAYS. And it almost always has something in it. You know how Tupperware in the fridge often just becomes the garbage can's 'waiting room'? Well, the dish drying rack in our house is pretty much the waiting room for the dishwasher.

SO, that being said, I was looking for something to replace the crusty, stinky old Walmart purchased Rubbermaid dish drying rack and plastic stand that was like 4 years old with something that would not only do the job, but would look sleeker and sexier while doing it (since it lives on the counter and doesn't get put away). Here's what I really like about this dish drying rack:

- First and foremost, it looks much nicer/more modern than the old 'maid' I replaced it with (see side by side photo comparisons). The half chrome, half rubberized coated frame with rounded corners has a very sleek and unique look to it that I liked a lot. Assuming it won't rust as promised, I'm really pleased with how it looks sitting on the drying mat I bought to go under it.
- It has a decent capacity for holding dishes, especially utensils. You can see that its utensil holder is much roomier than old maid's. I love that it doesn't take up too much precious counter top real estate and fits nicely under a cupboard unlike some of those behemoth two story high rise dish racks you'll find on Amazon!
- It's simple. No frills. There are plate holders and that's about it. They hold plates very well.
- Utensil holder can easily be removed and thrown in the dishwasher for cleaning but stays put when you want it to.
- Rubberized coating on the bottom portion means it won't scratch up or slide around on whatever surface you put it.
- It fits really perfectly in our standard sized sink (see pics)! I had never considered keeping it IN the sink before, but I actually might now!
- One side has a holder for glasses/cups

What I don't like as much:
- The only thing I preferred about the old maid to this drying rack is that old maid's plate holders were positioned a bit off center (see pic) leaving a larger area on one side for misc stuff. I really liked that. This drying rack's plate holders are dead center. If you're not drying plates it makes things a little more awkward working around them. Not a deal breaker, but not optimal IMO.
- While I love that it has 4 cup holders on one side, in my testing it doesn't actually accommodate 4 cups at once. They're too close together. This was the case for glass tumblers, standard size glasses and anything bigger. Maybe if all you're using are little kids sippy cups it'll work out, but as is, it only would accommodate 2 glasses at a time for me (see pic).

Also, it should be noted that this drying rack DOES NOT come with anything to put under it. No tray, no mat. This was fine with me as I wanted to buy a separate mat for it myself. I ended up getting the Norpro microfiber 18" x 16" mat in black and they go together perfectly. There is even room on the mat to lay some big knives or other things to dry next to the rack. I'll pull the mat out from under the rack once a week and throw it in the washing machine. Easy peasy lemon squeezey! I guess that's all there is to be said about a dish drying rack! In summary, if you're looking for something that will look nice(r) on your counter top, accommodate a variety of stuff or fit nicely in your sink, I can definitely recommend this! If you're looking for something that you can store out of sight when not in use, I might keep looking for something that folds up. Hopefully this helps someone else!
I did NOT receive this item for free or at a discount.

Excellent! I have a dishwasher but there are several things I wash by hand each day- travel coffee mug, wine glasses, gladware storage containers, vintage dishes and Pyrex, stainless cookware, utensils. I refuse to give up counter space to a dish drainer so I always had a hodge podge of stuff drying on a dishtowel on my counter- still hogging up space and looking cluttered.

This little drainer fits perfectly in the side of my standard stainless double sink. It holds a LOT, the cutlery tub stays attached well and everything dries so much faster. Now my countertop is not cluttered and I am a HAPPY GIRL!

Another bonus is that I use it when I'm washing produce to let my fruits, veggies and lettuce drip dry. It's easy to keep clean and it looks nice- very unobtrusive. A great solution to a common problem and the price was nice too.

Good price and getting the job done. The silverware tray thing is big and smaller utensils fall flat into the tray and don't always stay standing. Otherwise good and no rusting yet.

First and foremost, I do not get paid to write reviews nor did I receive this product for free in exchange for a good review.

I've been using this dish rack for about a month now and I love it. I don't always hand wash my dishes, but having this rack available is always helpful. I can stack quite a few plates in there, plus a handful of glasses.

No issues with rust so far and the coated feet does help a little bit so that the rack isn't always slipping and sliding.

I will update at a later time with any issues or concerns.

This dish drainer fits my needs exactly. It's the exact right size for the tiny little sink in my tiny little apartment. My last drainer was all but useless because it was too big, so I looked high and low for a replacement (but I can't look...
too /
_/Ō high or low, if you get my drift) so finding this here made my day. It's stout, well built, and the engineering and execution are excellent. It has the same drawbacks as any other metal dish drainer... like... it's METAL, but (speaking as an old time motorcycle guy) the chroming is well done, so rust shouldn't be a problem for a long time, and the polymer coating on the bottom is thick and solid, protecting both the sink under it and the dishes in it.

While I still use my old drainer on the counter top, this has become my tiny little apartment's tiny little sink tiny little work-horse.

Did I mention that it's tiny little? I wouldn't try to put more than one meal's worth of two people's dishes in it at a time, but with that in mind, I wouldn't hesitate to suggest it to others.

Description

The deluxe chrome-plated steel small dish rack has been streamlined to fit perfectly on the kitchen counter or in the sink. The dish rack can also be used in the sink to completely free up counter space.

This is perfect for some who lives in a one bedroom. I say this because if you live as a couple in a one bedroom, it doesn't matter whose dish it is. You just wash and rack it. Whereas a two bedroom apartment with just 2 people, you normally don't wash each others dishes so you almost always have double the amount of dirty dishes. This dish rack is NOT big enough for 2 individuals to keep their dishes dry. A couple will make food for 2, whereas 2 roommates will make food for 1, twice (i.e. two pots/pans instead of one, sharing a dish instead of two dishes, etc.).

With that said, this rack is very small. You definitely want to wash your dishes every night. It'll be find holding off from breakfast till dinner, but definitely not for couple days. My last apartment had a dishwasher, so I'd just wash any gunk off and place in dishwasher. I didn't have to run my dishwasher for few days, before running out of room. Using the same amount of dishes, I run out of space after one day.

I've placed a picture for reference.

Exactly what I needed. Fits in a small space and holds more than a day's dishes. In fact, the cutlery container was big enough to hold almost every piece of silverware I own! I can't fit more than 2 of my big ol' glass tumblers on the side racks, but that's OK with me. The plate holders are even big enough to take my heavy, big, diner-style plates. And all without tipping over. I use a microfiber mat under the rack and another one to drain pots and pans if the rack is full, but at least all the towels I used to use are gone, gone, gone! Clean lines and very shiny chrome give it a modern look. The plate holders aren't coated like the bottom of the rack, so I'm a little concerned about possible scratching but haven't noticed any so far.

The counter I have never been able to use due to having it occupied by larger dish racks is my newfound continent. Yes, very flowery writing. But, new counter space in a 1949 kitchen is hard to come by, and ceding the territory of Half-a-Sink for the acquisition of the fair land of New Counter was well worth it. The dish rack itself is sturdy, easy to use, and does what it needs to do. Being as it is in a divided sink, the cup prongs are inaccessible. Basically, dishes have to be washed more often, which is a good side-effect. The only flaw is that the 'divided' silverware basket has 'dividers' that are actually very short squares of plastic rather than full size dividers. Thus silverware falls helter-skelter on its neighbors, so any sorting is not very effective. A minor consideration considering the happy annexation of New Counter!

I measured before buying this, and still it's small seeing it. I don't know why it's so hard to find larger dish drainers these days that actually have taller sides. BUT, it does hold a surprising amount of dishes, so I'm overall pleased with it and have no complaints about the product itself. I knew when I ordered that I was going to hate that plastic utensil holder and ordered a separate better one (metal version with 3 sections offered by the same Neat-O company). The other basket is a perfect fit for this dis drainer.

I ordered this dish drainer because I had a white plastic drainer that was getting shabby. I have a newly remodeled kitchen and have a dual tub farmhouse black sink that I keep a dish drainer on one side for washing items that do not go in the dishwasher. This drainer has a chrome at the top and has been coated with black across the bottom. It matches my kitchen and with it being chrome plated steel in is more durable. It does not look like an eyesore.
