When we remodeled our kitchen recently we ended up with 6" of extra space beside a cabinet. Rather than just put a board across it to cover the space, we utilized the space with this pull-out shelf. It's awesome! It's a spice shelf, so that's what I use it for. I put my most-used spices on the bottom shelf. The shelves are adjustable. Very handy. Durable, very nice quality, and it looks nice. My husband installed it and did have to add a spacer at the bottom to lift it a bit to get it to fit in our space, but no big deal. No problems with installation. All hardware is included. Keep in mind that you will still need to add a front to this shelf that matches your other cabinets. My husband made ours--he's very handy. The second photo shows how it looks closed.
I was looking for an organizer that would fit into some customized cabinets and these were the closest to fitting. Once I got them I had to cut them down to actually fit the cabinets. I had to cut 2 1/2" off the top to make it fit. The nice part was, the construction of the pull out allowed me to do so. Now, I'll say, the "average" DIYer, probably would NOT be able to do what I did....I'm a bit more advanced in my experienced than the "average" woodworker.
I am also impressed with the sliding mechanism. Never would have thought about using three slides that way they did, but it works great. It's smooth running in and out.
If there is a con, it would have to be in the adjustable pin holes drilled in the sides of the organizer. They utilize 5mm pins, but the holes are so tight, that in order to pull the pins to adjust the shelves I had to use quite a bit of force with vice grips to pull them out, or to push them in......not a huge deal, unless you change positions often.
Only pulls out 6 inches. The 4 1/2 inch rest of the shelf sits inside the cupboard. Can't move the shelf closer to opening because the cupboard won't close all the way. The problem of seeing and reaching all spices is still present.
Update: Contacted the company and customer service was awesome. They sent me a new track. Shelf pulls all the way out and super easy to install. I can easily see and reach my spices! Love the shelf, great company to deal with.
After watching my wife relocate and reorganize our spices into our pantry because our spice cabinet was too small and crowded, I decided to look for some options. Luckily I found this Rev-a-shelf pull out cabinet! It was pretty easy to install, but don't watch the installation video on the rev-a-shelf site - it was completely different.
A few tips:
- a 90 degree screwdriver would have been handy - otherwise you get stuck with some funky angles turning less than hardy screws (they'll strip - so be careful)
- once you have the unit lined up, mark where the spacers go, remove the unit and install the spacers BEFORE installing the unit. If you don't, you'll be stuck with those funky angles again.
- a second set of hands is pretty useful when attaching the cabinet face.
This has made my spice cabinet so much more organized than it was before it's not even funny. It's almost the same as a regular cabinet that you have access to from both sides rather than just one door. Effectively, if something's buried in the "back" from one side, it's on the front of the other. Highly recommended. Easy to install, took maybe 30 mins to do by myself. Would go even faster with somebody to assist with the installation.

Just installed this and so very happy!!! As others have said, the instructions stink, but it was still relatively easy to install. Recommend taking the shelf off the base, makes it much easier to accomplish. We have 42" cabinets, so being able to add the rails to use the top is awesome!!
Just bought a house the previous homeowner had renovated at some point a few years past. For some reason, the cooktop was butted *directly* up against the wall oven cabinet. This meant any bubbling sauce or splattering grease was going to end up right on the side of the cabinet. Decided to bump the oven cabinet over by 12", by purchasing a 12" base cabinet and a 12" wall cabinet. This pull-out organizer installed in a breeze - the hardest part was aligning/screwing the door onto the brackets to ensure a factory-finished look.
Be aware though - this is labeled as an 8" organizer, but the 12" face-frame cabinets I purchased were a SNUG fit. I do not believe this organizer will fit in a 9" cabinet!
Extremely well built shelf unit. A little on the pricey side, perhaps, but the construction is not cheap. It looks like it will last a lifetime.
Instructions for installation are very basic..... But once understood, screwing it into the cabinet is pretty straightforward - not a lot of options to how it can be done with a narrow cabinet.
The wooden shelving unit and metal rollers are so well constructed, I did not detract overall stars, but I will point out that the sizing of the plastic guide parts meant I had to modify them - carefully file them down some - to get the install right. The small ones were too thin and the thicker ones were too thick.
I bought this as a pullout spice rack in our kitchen.
This is a good quality product but the installation instructions were "ambiguous" at best.
As an engineer, I'm pretty good at figuring that kind of thing. So yeah, the instructions suck, even if you're fairly technically minded. This was disappointing because I'm a big Rev-A-Shelf fan and every other product purchased had really great instructions.
It took about 2 hours to install - better instructions would have that time down to 45 minutes. It actually took 3 hours but I didn't have anyone help hold the cabinet door to get the alignment straight - so that hour is deducted for lack of an extra set of hands.
We build custom cabinets and most sets have this installed. Everyone loves being able to see all their spices without rearranging all their spice bottles. I do suggest using this in a cabinet that can hold a larger spice rack (not the smallest sized one) if you have a lot of spices. Each shelf on the small spice rack holds two rows of about 4 normal sized spice bottles.
