It's two separate movable pieces when put together. Even though I have the unit sitting on a tilted desktop, it's staying in place and seems sturdy enough. The wood pieces came with minor expected blemishes, but I like the unfinished look. It was easy to put together in a few minutes with the mini screwdriver, screws (plus 1 extra), self-explanatory pictures, and wiping cloth that came in the box.
I love this shelf. It is as useful and stylish as it is simple. It comes with seven boards, enough screws +1, and even its own screwdriver, which I was a little surprised to find came with it. The picture instruction are numbered and super easy to follow; they just show which sized board with the correct number of pre-drilled holes to attach to the other, so as long as you can operate a screwdriver, really simple!
My favorite feature of this shelf is that it's adjustable in length, angle, shape, etc. The size is also perfect for a table/desk top. The wood is nicely treated, though it looks like it would be just as nice if it were painted, too, but it's definitely not necessary.
Final words; I am not at all disappointed with this purchase. For me, it was a great buy!

Let me start by saying that I bought this shelf because I really needed a better way to organize some of my school supplies while also making my workspace feel more homey. And I really wanted to LOVE it, but at most I just like it. Yes, it looks absolutely as I expected it to based on the pictures and description. And the size is just right. But that's where my love for it ends. The assembly instructions were not the most helpful, but honestly with a little common sense you can figure it out. It took me about 15 minutes to put together myself. Here's where the issue came in: I really wanted to use it like the picture shows, where I had textbooks stacked standing to one side of my knick-knack shelf. The problem is that the upper and lower part of the shelf do not attach to one another and instead just sit stacked together. Therefore when I stood the books up the weight of them wanted to lean inward towards to light shelf and pushed everything right off of it. Perhaps this wouldn't be an issue if the one side of your organizer was against a wall, but mine was not. And since the two pieces do not attach, there have been times where I have gone to pull something off an upper shelf and it slides the whole shelf halfway off of the bottom shelf. The wood has a very smooth finish, which looks lovely but doesn't help in the least bit with the sliding issue. So here's my final take on the " desktop organizer": If you're using is for small and/or lightweight items, or even books that you plan to store laying horizontally, then this will function well. If you wanted to organize things similar to the picture shows, it may be better to look for something more practical. If the manufacture would decide to include some type of clip to hold the shelves in place once you have it arranged the way you like, this could easily be a 5-star product.
Organizer was surprisingly large. It comes with a screwdriver and a piece of cleaning cloth, which is really nice. The wood is not super good quality, it is soft and splinters easily. I dont know if it is sturdy or not but it looks good for now.
I love this bookshelf. Contrary to what another reviewer wrote, this shelf is extremely easy to assemble. Even my HUSBAND could do it. :-) It's sturdy, attractive, adaptable, adjustable. It met my needs perfectly. I would order this again and recommend it to everyone.

I was really impressed with the quality of the wood and overall design, and also that it comes with an actual screwdriver, not some crappy Allen wrench and pressed cardboard monstrosity.
The first picture I'm posting, of it on the desk, was when it was in my cubicle. The second picture was when I surprised my coworker with it for her shelf, as a fun way to proudly display her Pops. Same shelf set, just resized and displayed differently.
I really like this set of shelves. Firstly, let me say, this isn't made from plywood or any of that cheap material; this is real wood. Included in the box is a screwdriver & even, what I'm thinking, is a dust cloth so that's always cool; I don't mind getting free stuff with my purchase that's useful. The shelves took all of 10-15 minutes max to assemble and that was mainly due to the instructions. I'm glad pictures were in the instructions but that's ALL there was; they should consider adding a few written instructions along with the pictures. However, once I got all the information from the pictures in the assembly instructions it was a piece of cake to put together. You honestly can't beat the price for something like this and they're very sturdy. You can really fit quite a bit on each shelf and underneath the shelves.
Like most others, I just love this item. True, it's not the highest quality and I could probably make it in 4 hours using scraps from the garage - but what's 4 hours of time worth (I'm including staining and finishing in that total time). It was easy to put together and holy cats the flexibility is just awesome. I'm using mine for craft supplies on my workbench but do note that it's not going to hold a large amount of weight from heavy items. The color is also off from the product images supplied, I thought it would be darker brown (more of a cherry or walnut finish) but it arrived as a golden oak. My guess, based on other reviewers, is that they finish with whatever happens to be available that day. If color is a dealbreaker for you, be prepared to send this back.
Personally, I'm still thrilled because this is exactly what I needed for my supplies and I can reconfigure it as needed.
The adjustable width of this organizer allows it to fit perfectly on my kitchen counter. I am using the space at the left in the picture where it shows books standing vertically as an open space where an electrical wall outlet is and I keep various phone chargers and cables there. This item has freed up a lot of my counter workspace where I once had shopping lists, cups with pens, cookbooks, notepads, tape measure, kleenex box, etc. It's nicely made and is easy enough to put together (I'm a 64 yr old woman) by looking at the pictograms. However, mine did not include a screwdriver for the specialized screws included. Thankfully, I found that I already had the proper bit included in my ratchet screwdriver set. I would buy this again.
This little shelf is a very cute and creative solution for more desk top storage. Carefully packaged, arrived quickly, and instructions were clear and easy to follow. Went together quickly. Each piece was labeled in the diagram; the screw holes were all aligned and drilled through. Even included some pre-drilled space for counter-sinking the screw heads. Comes with a sturdy Phillips-head screwdriver. Good screws--didn't strip. Two downsides, the reasons for 4 stars: the finish quality is not great and you will need to be careful with it. Mine came with a chip in the veneer. No big deal, but noticeable. Also, the finish color has slight variation from piece to piece. The other thing is those super shiny silver screws--they really show up. I haven't figured out how to cover those yet. All in all, I can't complain though. It was an inexpensive shelf but very sturdy once assembled. I would give it 4 1/2 stars if I could figure out how to do that.
