I wanted a new pop container for my bulk cereal bags. When I did a quick search I saw these new products from OXO and was like YES exactly what I need. What perfect timing too!
quick info to help you out:
Small: 2.5 quarts___ Dimensions: 4" x 10.2" x 8.2"
Medium: 3.4 quarts____________4.3" x 10.2" x 10.5"
Large: 4.5 quarts______________4" x 10" x 12.5"
As you can see the width and length doesnt really change per size but the height changes about 2 inches at a time. So make sure you measure your shelf if you want it to stand upright. I didnt care if mine stood upright. I lay mine down in the shelf. The top is wider than the bottom so if you do lay it down it will be slanted.
I bought 32 oz (2lbs) of a flake cereal and 32 oz (2lbs) of an O cereal (like cheerio's) for the large container. Both those cereals were just barely too much for the container. Maybe like half a bowls worth too much. Not a huge deal. Just eat that extra when you go to use it lol.
The pop seal on this is more like a lever action like an alligator mouth. It opens nice and wide so if you have things that are larger like mini wheats or something they would come out with ease without having to worry them getting stuck at the top. It has a nice silicone O ring sealing the cereal inside. The spout is tapered nicely so that it is mess free. Things dont go flying away while you pour. The lids are also interchangeable between all three sizes.
I have medium sized hands and this is extremely easy to hold.
Dont think just cereal. This works great for oatmeal, rice, flour, and snacks.
The plastic is BPA free.
My only gripe is with the plastic. Its a minor things but it annoys me. Because it's plastic it tends to generate static electricity and the powder you typically find at the bottom of your cereal box clings to the sides of the container. That's only a minor nuisance but it is there.
Some might not like that the container itself is NOT dishwasher safe. Everything is handwash only, with the exception of the silicone ring, which can go in the dishwasher. This isn't a big deal for me but I know a lot of people like the convenience of a dishwasher, so it is something to consider.
Overall I really like this product and absolutely recommend it!
Excellent product! Love the design, the crystal clear container and the lid. Easy one-handed use. Our favorite cereal is not carried by the grocery closest to us, so we usually buy two boxes when we find it. I poured two brand new boxes (16oz + 16oz) of the cereal into this container and there was still room to spare (see photo.)
I was skeptical at first but after having cereal in this container for over a month, just as fresh as the day it came out of the box, I am glad I purchased this container!
It holds a full box of my favorite cereal,18.7 ounces, and kept it fresh and crunchy for a month+... Usually after a couple of weeks in the box we had to throw cereal away as we do not eat a ton of it...
Easy to clean, take apart & put back together! I see more OXO containers in my future! Wonderful product!!!
I hesitated to buy these cereal containers because, frankly, they are expensive. I am very glad I did.
Like most families with kids, we go through a lot of cereal in our house. When I was doing a pantry makeover, I bought these containers to combat the issues we were always having with cereal.
Empty or almost empty cereal boxes left in the pantry
Cereal opened and used once and it goes stale.
Cereal spilled all over
Two boxes of the same cereal opened at once.
My kids now have the rule that they fill these three dispensers with three kind of cereal. Before they open another box, they have to empty one of the dispensers by finishing the cereal. We are wasting a lot less cereal. We have a lot fewer spills and messes with these dispensers too.
I am a fan of the OXO storage containers and these certainly live up to that name. I'm happy I splurged and bought these. I suspect that they will pay for themselves with less wasted cereal before too much longer.
i've been eyeballing these for a few months but didn't wanna spend so much on them lol i have other oxo containers that i love but also waited awhile before purchasing. once my pantry started piling up with cereal boxes, i knew the time had come.
these are so attractive, i'm so mad i waited so long! they are bigger than they look, as a warning. you can fit two standard sized boxes of cereal into one container! because of that, they are also pretty tall. if you have an older or smaller pantry with less space between shelves, these may not fit. they would still look great on a counter or on top of a fridge though! the top flips open like a seesaw and seals shut by pushing it back down. easy enough for a preschooler to do. i use two of them for cereal and one for small crackers and i'm never looking back! now on to the pasta holders :)

We recently had some problems with bugs in our pantry. I love OXO brand items so purchased several different containers. This one for Cereal is great and holds a small box of Cheerios easily. These are pretty well made too so I'm sure we will have them for years to come. Also eliminates my son from leaving the package open which leads to spoiled cereals.
If you buy family size cereals, you need this size container. We love these, even though they're so expensive for what they are and I felt silly buying three of them. When my kids got home though, they raved about the containers (seriously!) and said the pantry looked so nice and they liked using them a lot more. I guess if a container can get young boys to even comment on it, it's doing something right? And they really are easy to pour and load so... yeah. Actually not a waste of money!
My daughter is almost 8 and she can serve her own cereal with these without making a mess and ruining cereals by leaving open the bags. My pantry looks great with them too, I’m a bit obsessed with OXO containers!
Keeps cereal fresh and I like that. Also, when I make my shopping list, I don't have to lift the box to figure out how much cereal is left. I just look. They hold a 12.8 oz cereal box perfectly. I get Millville Rice Squares from Aldi and they are a perfect fit. I really like these. If I were to do it over, I think I would get coupons for Bed Bath and Beyond and get the containers there.
Expensive, yes, but in my opinion, definitely worth the money. I wanted a Pinterest-worthy pantry when I Konmari'ed my house and I kept seeing these everywhere. I tried a few different sizes, but settled on getting all the same size for everything on the same shelf (3.4 cereal). Glad I did because they are so visually appealing to the eye, they are so easy to open and close, see what the content is inside, and pop off the lid entirely for larger snacks that I store in there, like chips that I want to dump out.
