I thought they sent the wrong item because the cardboard thing it's bolted to (yes, a very difficult to remove plastic bolt) said it was a dish-drain thing. I put my hot iron on it's highest setting and pushed down to make good contact with the hot iron part and the mat... not a dent. Left it there a good while and no damage. Definitely good for hot irons.
As part of a bathroom remodel, my new sink area has a grey marble vanity top so I felt to protect it with a mat would be the best idea . When I placed the order I worried that the mat would not look as nice as the bathroom and it would look out of place... but I was wrong! The mat is very nice, thick and is big enough to accommodate both a straighten and a curler at the same time! There is also a hook on it so I can hang it up when I am not using it! I loved it so much that I brought one for my daughter as well!
I love how this looks in my bathroom instead of the towel with burn marks I was using before. They think of everything nowadays. Perfect solution to the issue of protecting my countertops from my flat iron.
Very basic item. Perfect shape and size to protect my counters and to store the tool in my drawer while still hot. It also travels well by rolling it or laying flat.
I use this for all my heated hair appliances. I don't worry about burning the counter (wood right now).
