I've had a Chicago Cutlery set for a few years that I really like, but the block took up so much space on the counter and was starting to look grungy no matter how I cleaned it. This is clean and neat looking and takes up very little space on my counter.
I'm not a great cook but recently I've started working at improving my skills and repertoire. I quickly learned that I'm long overdue for owning some decent knives. I actually had nothing that could cut a large spaghetti squash, which is embarrassing to admit. I've now bought a couple of nice knives, sorted out the cutlery drawer, dumped the junk, and had to decide how to store my knives - the nice new ones and the rest that survived the culling.
I've always been leery of wooden knife blocks. They must not be lethal harbors for bad germs, because they're in common use, but I get squicked out thinking about it and just do not want one of those.
Instead, I'm delighted to have found this knife storage solution. It all comes apart for a good wash, holds the knives securely and visibly, and looks nice on my kitchen counter. I wondered if it would be up to the size and weight of my new 8" chef's knife. It is, no problem. Love it!
This kitchendao universal knife block is surprisingly well made and durable. The design is unique with a modern look. The bottom cap is thick and heavy enough to counter balance the weight and makes the unit very stable while storing 13 to 15 small to medium size knives easily. I was also able to store a bunch of steak knives and forks in it for a family camping trip. I will give a five-star on this one.
I like this knife holder much more than my old bulky wooden knife block. It takes up much less space and is easier to keep clean. The downside is that it holds fewer knives. I’ve got 6 or 8 knives in it plus a pair of kitchen scissors. I sort of had to jam the scissors in to make them fit but it works. I did not know what to expect the top to be like when ordering. I had sort of assumed it would be more flexible silicone material keeping the knives in place but it seems to be very hard plastic type material so there’s not much give or stretch. And you do have to hold it with 2 hands when removing items, they don’t just slide right out. I also wish it came in more colors instead of black. I’d love a clear and gray version. But overall, this item does its job with a much smaller footprint than what I had been using and it looks nicer as well. I’m pleased.
Very compact, yet deep enough to hold a 210 mm knife (with a bit to spare -- won't hold a 240mm though)... I just bought a second one in bamboo. The bamboo is even better bec it holds more large knives and is a bit heavier allowing even a cleaver to be removed single handed!
The description suggests that the bamboo is shorter but both it and the transparent one has about 8.75” length clearance for knife. 8.5” would be good guideline for max blade length.

This works really well, but my only complaint is it's not super easy to insert and remove the knives. I guess that's a good thing because you don't want them falling out all willy nilly, but it's a little frustrating not to be able to grab a knife with one hand easily. Very sturdy, sits on counter and endures bumps and jiggles. Would recommend and purchase again.
This product is excellent. You are able to put many knives in there and not having it very bulky. When trying to consolidate, I was thinking of buying the conventional block knife holder, however it didn't fit into the design of my home which is more contemporary. This product gives it that nice simple but yet elegant look in my opinion. I am able to put about 15 knives all of different sizes in it. The item itself is pretty tall so that you can fit most standard knife set. It doesn't tip over easily and seems very sturdy. So far, after several months of usage, I don't have any issues. If given the opportunity, I would definitely buy it again.
I threw out my wood block years ago, they always look stupid to me and just feel bulky and cumbersome. This one is very slick and holds everything I need it to. It's easy to clean, and doesn't take up too much space. My only drawback would be that it is quite light, so sometimes it comes with the knife I need, but honestly I've already just adapted to holding it while pulling the knife.
This product is awesome. Love the look and functionality. Seeing the knives makes it so much easier to select which knife to use and makes me use the ones I sometimes forget I even have. Love the idea that I will be able to take apart and clean occasionally. Was worried that it would not be stable but trusted all the good reviews on this product and I was not disappointed. Very stable and easy to get knives in and out and holds a good amount. Would definitely recommend to others!
I have a shortage of drawers and counter space so was a little concerned about how this would be beneficial, but this knife holder takes up minimal space on the counter and emptied a whole small drawer. I did a lot of research and was considering a magnetic strip or the one with the plastic flex rods, but I am glad I ran across this product and very pleased with my decision to purchase it.
