This knife organizer is better than most in that the surface against which the knife handle stops is squared off and almost vertical, not rounded. I previously had a rounded type that occasionally launched my knives pointing handle upwards when someone carelessly slammed the drawer. While I luckily managed to work the knives back down, I was worried that I wouldn't be so lucky next time, which would likely cause me to have to cut the drawer box to open it up.
The block itself is very solid. It does indeed match the photograph, unlike what some reviewers noted. Perhaps the seller had since updated the photo.
My only gripe was that one of the rubber feet was missing, causing the block to rock. Fortunately I had some feet in my junk drawer and managed to level it out.
I bought this as a Christmas present for my parents. They try not to keep a lot stuff on the counter, so when I decided to buy them a Knife set for Christmas I stumbled along this and bought it!
It is a very good value and fit perfectly into the drawer. It holds the steak knives that they already had and the new knives that I bought them to go with this. It is very convenient and makes grabbing a knife easy and safe (as long as the blades are facing down, like they are supposed to be!). This is a very good alternative to a counter knife block. If you don't want to take up more space on the counter and if you have the empty drawer space it is perfect!!
I debated between this one and others with more slots for more knives. This one seems to be more visually appealing that the others. Granted it's in a drawer, I know, but it looks better that the other option (at least to me). Also my parents aren't huge into cooking with the finest of everything, so they didn't exactly need more storage space, as they only have 13 knives, which worked out perfect!
This knife tray is a brilliant concept. We happen to have more drawer space than needed, so to have a knife block that safely stores our steak/santoku knives in a drawer fit our needs perfectly. It solved the problem of having extraneous stuff on the counter while also solving the problem of having mismatched knives openly in a knife block on the counter.
I read the reviews before I purchased it, and noted comments about the knife block not accommodating some knives. We have Henckel knives, but not steak knives, which are some other brand. The steak knives fit perfectly in the allotted slots. My only complaint is that there aren't enough steak knife slots.
I bought this several years ago when we remodeled our kitchen. I am someone who doesn't like a lot of clutter on my countertops so this was the perfect solution for me. Measure the inside of your drawer to make sure it fits. The knifes are close at hand but out of sight, The drawer is deep enough to hold this wooden knife tray with just enough room to hide the knife sharpener behind it. I figure I've had it for 5 years. it looks great, works great and I would never go back to that ugly block on my counter top again. It likely protects the knives also.
I love this 13-Slot In-Drawer Knife Tray. This high quality product is beautiful and functional. I hate clutter on my counter tops and this storage tray is the perfect answer for safe storage. I looked at another style of in-drawer knife storage and read about problems taking out the small knives, but no problems with this design. Even my husband thought this was great. If you have little ones around, be careful choosing the drawer for knife storage. Hey, J.A. Henckels, please make a 6 or 8 slot in-drawer STEAK knife tray style like this great product. Highly recommended!

I bought this tray because I found myself with a few more knives than I had room in my block, mostly short knives with a couple of longer ones, and needed a place where they'd stay safe. It does its job as well as you could expect it to, with all my knives sitting still in their proper places every time I open and close its drawer. It also looks great - it sits in a what I imagine is a standard size silverware drawer, taking up most of the length but leaving plenty of width on either side for me to keep related objects and still feel organized. I couldn't have asked for a better product for my use case.
For 40 years my knives have lain as a jumbled mess in any available drawer. When I recently purchased a set of quality knives I decided they needed some protection. This holder fits neatly in the drawer and my knives are protected and easily accessed. I still have a few knives that were too big to fit, but now they are not constantly dulled by colliding with other knives. This is a very nice setup if you don't want a block taking up counter space.
This is a very high quality knife holder for the drawer. I have had no issues with it so far. I purchased a set of "Chicago Cutlery Insignia2 18-Piece Knife Block Set with In-Block Knife Sharpener" to use with this block. These knives fit in this fine with no issues.
I would recommend this product to anyone. I was actually thinking of buying another one to accommodate some of my other knives.
I've been using this knife tray for about 18 months, and I couldn't be more pleased with it. It's well made, durable, and has enough space for all of my steak knives (plus the sharpening steel). I keep my larger knives in a more accessible block on the countertop, but for the knives I use less often but still want protected, this product is ideal.
This product meets all my expectations. It fits in a narrow drawer and holds 6 steak knives and a few smaller knives in the slots provided. 4 more steak knives fit along the front section. I like the fact that it is a flat holder rather than curved like many others.
