Household Essentials 6-Tier Basket Over-The-Door Organizer, Red

This item increased our food pantry capacity by about 25%, utilizing space that was wasted. Seems to be extremely sturdy. ( I loaded it down with a bunch of canned goods) It never sagged. The only issue I had with it was when you open the door, the shelves would pull away from the door and then hit it on the rebound. I solved this problem with 4 1x2 pieces of industrial strength velcro attached to the door and the 4 contact points on the shelf. Solid as a rock.

I have three of these and am looking for excuses to add a couple more because I'm an organizational freak and I love them :)). The color is lovely plus the whole unit is really nice and sturdy, fits A LOT of stuff. I have one on the outside of the toilet closet door, where I keep all kinds of toiletries and other items/ products handy. The other one is on the inside of my walk-in closet door, where I keep all kinds of wearable accessories (belts, jewelry, hair accessories, hats, gloves, sewing kit, etc.) very nicely organized. This unit used to hold my perfume collection before it got too big and I had to move it elsewhere. Then I have another one where I keep all my organic product-making materials and supplies (lots of big essential oil bottles, shea butter bars, and other big bag/ container stuff), I really want to get another one for the inside of the laundry room door but I have nothing to put in it there, lol. These would also be excellent spice racks for pantry doors too, they'd actually fit good sized stuff, unlike so may crappy units out there used for that purpose. What I love about these units is not just that they're pretty, but they're also very strong, hold a tremendous amount of weight, the feet keep the unit inn place (no wobbling, bouncing or swinging) and the red baskets are made of a thick, high quality plastic that doesn't bow under weight or lose its shape in any way. The sides are the perfect height so that tall items won't tip over, they're spacious enough to hold substantial items. and the spacing between the shelves is quite reasonable, so you're not restricted to smaller items. These thingies make my organizer heart burst with joy, what can I say? :))

This storage rack is lightweight and durable. Great buy for the money. I used mine to put all my spices, oils, and vinegars in. I don't have a lot of cabinet space. It was very easy to put together and came with 2 sets of hangers one for a thinner door and one for a thicker one. Looked at a lot of different items like this. Glad I went with this one.

I absolutely LOVE this organizer! I came back to order a second one for the closet where my hot water heater is located and thought I would share my enthusiasm.

Things to love and know:

1. This seems like a very sturdy product. It's made of a canvas material that seems to be quite strong and unlikely to rip apart with normal wear.

2. It holds a LOT of stuff. I'm using the first one I purchased in my pantry, and it is loaded down with all sorts of those pantry items that tend to get lost from view (gum and mints, packets of seasonings, tins of anchovies and sardines, cheesecloth, packets of rice and pasta sides, jello and pudding mixes, boxes of pasta, boxes of tea, unopened spices and herbs, and etc.).

To know: I tried putting some heavier items in the pockets, but it didn't seem like a good idea. They tilted and banged around when I opened and closed the door. I tried cleaning products like Spot-shot and Method spray cleaners, but it seems that this is not really made for that type of storage.

3. It comes with two different hook types for wider and less wide doors. The smaller one fits my needs perfectly. The hooks holes have metal grommets, so they should last quite some time without tearing through, though I wouldn't weigh this thing down.

4. It has a canvas-covered flat base and pockets in which to put the provided plastic sides. This means that your pockets aren't just sagging bits of canvas. The sides stay in place and do a good job of providing form to the pockets.

To know: the base will slide up and behind what you have on it if you aren't careful, and with the door in use, you can't really be careful enough to avoid this.

5. Obviously this item has a back. To me, this is a must-have feature, as I can't stand those backless over the door organizers that flap around and make everything fall out unless you afix them to the door with something. I wanted easy: toss it up, fill it up, never worry about it again. And that is what I got with this purchase.

6. The top tiers are shorter than the bottom ones. I love this feature because it allows me to see what i have in the organizer without digging around in deep pockets to find out.

The second one that I just ordered is going in my hall closet that so far is empty storage space crying out for use: the hot water heater closet. In this one, I will store things like light bulbs, device chargers for those things I don't charge often, a couple of extension cords, cordless screwdriver and other such stuff from my "junk drawer," extra lights and pods for my AeroGarden, and all those things that I might need one day but that are just taking up space until then. And yes, all of this will fit . . . with room for more!

UPDATE: February 16, 2019

I've had these organizers for two years (ish) now, and I love them just as much now as when I first got them. After two years, I see no wear at all on the metal grommets. This thing is made to last!

I do want to note that over time, you do need to reposition the plastic sliders. At one point, I opened my pantry door and the entire contents of the bottom shelf fell on the floor. This was user error, however, because I had noticed it sagging a bit and did not reposition the inserts. Totally my bad. Once I put the sliders where they belong, the shelf held perfectly.

I have been using this in my pantry for almost 2 years and it’s worked great and held up well. The pieces lock together in straight lines, not dangling (Pic 1), so it doesn’t move much.

The baskets hold a good amount of stuff (Pic 2). I haven’t tried putting many heavy, solid things on all at once (I keep most cans and bottles in the pantry), but it hasn’t had any problems with boxes of pasta, bags of chickpeas and raisins, cereal, peanut butter, etc. all together.

The only downside was that it does thump against the door at the bottom after you open the door, and we were afraid it would damage the door (and the noise wasn’t pleasant). Easy fix: stuck on little felt pads meant to prevent chair/furniture legs from scraping the floor, onto the back of the bottom basket (Pic 3).

Now the felt muffles the noise to a mild, dull thump, and it hasn’t marked up the door at all. We already owned the felt pads, so it didn’t cost us extra.

Description

Household Essentials 6-basket over-the-door organizer is an intelligent way to stay organized. This colorful unit attaches over the door and hangs along its back. The rack has 6 plastic baskets to hold everything: towels, soaps, hair brushes, flat irons, craft supplies, tin foil and plastic wrap, Pasta Boxes, pet leashes, and more. The organizer assembles easily, fitting together with snap locks. The plastic spacers at the top of the shoe organizer, and the plastic feet at the bottom, stabilize the unit and help protect your door. This innovative organizer comes with 2 sets of hooks to fit over commercial and residential doors, making this the perfect organizer for dorms, where many doors are not standard residential doors. It's a smart way to use your door and keep your space organized and usable! this over-the-door basket organizer is 57 inches high, 19.25 inches wide, and 6.25 inches deep. This warm 6-basket organizer is part of a larger over-the-door collection of shoe racks and basket organizers in 3 dynamic colors: Lime green, bright orange, and Cherry red.

It is easy to assemble, truly "no tools required". The shelves are sturdy, have fairly high walls front and back, nothing falls out. The over-the-door hanging brackets are relatively flimsy. They have held up for us because my wife uses the unit as a spice rack, and the containers are relatively light. I don't think the door brackets would hold up well under the load of canned goods.

Here's a consideration: The shelves stick out fairly far from the door. Our pantry door is nominally 24 inches wide. Before the shelf installation the door opening was 22", Now that the shelves hang on the inside the opening is only 18 inches. I used to be able to just open the door and step into the pantry. Now I have to turn sideways to avoid hitting the shelves with my shoulder or hip.

After we installed the unit and loaded the shelves, the unit tended to swing when the door was opened or shut. Loading heavier items at the top helps, but doesn't cure it. I ended up drilling a hole in the bottom outside plastic bracket where is sits against the door. I then put in just one short wood screw for stabilization; that stopped the swinging. Another reviewer talked about not being able to use screws in a hollow-core door, but I find my stabilizer screw holds just fine. Just don't make it too tight, or you will pull it out of the thin wood.

Finally, I wonder what's with the unit being available only in bright, flashy colors? Why not white, or tan, or gray?

I'm so happy I found this, it's exactly what I needed! I have a very small bathroom and only two drawers, so I needed something to hold my makeup. This is perfect.

The pockets are nice and deep, much bigger than I expected. It looks so much better than all the makeup bags I had hanging in my bathroom door.

A little bit of assembly is required, but it's very easy. Very sturdy and looks great!

This item fit its description very accurately. I hang this on my bathroom door to store rolled face towels, extra soaps, toilet paper, toothpaste and other personal care products. I love that each pocket is a different height because it allows me to store the various items in such a way that I can see just enough of them to know what is where. For example, I store my rolled towels upright in the deepest pockets, and my bath soaps in the shallow pockets. One small drawback is that overcrowding and overloading the pockets can cause those pockets to stretch downwards and look droopy.

Installation took me about 3 minutes and it has held up pretty well. Overall, once you do not overcrowd or pack it with exceptionally heavy stuff, it should hold up very well.

Believe it or not this thing fits all of my 3 year old's clothing which has been a huge help. I put it on the back of the bedroom door but I'll probably eventually attach it to a wall. It works on the door just fine it's just my preference. It comes with two sets of hooks for door hanging, both are different sizes for the door thickness. They both are very thin and don't interfere with the door.
When you fill up the bottom "boxes" they tend to start leaning forward which kinda makes it look cheap. It's not that big of a deal though.
I really wish they had more color choices. I chose the orange and gray which is going with the bedroom fine but I would love it if I could get this in black. Anyways.
It holds more clothing than I thought it would. In fact the top box is almost empty.
Great way for storing a little one's clothing. I find that it's out in the open so it's easy to grab without making a mess and it's easy to put away. It also makes it easy for my son to get clothing on his own even though he can't reach above the second box.
Different things work for different people. I have never been a person to hang clothing in a closet it's just too time consuming for me. I like using drawers for the most part.
The walls and the bottoms of each box are strong enough. They don't seem to give even when I have over stuffed them. They really retain their cube shape. I thought it was clever how they made little pockets for the plastic insert walls.
It's a good investment for someone like me who can't stand hanging clothing for a toddler. I just want more colors to chose from.

Excellent design. Stiffeners keep every pocket open for maximum capacity. Two sets of hooks for doors of different thicknesses. Narrow enough for all but the tiniest of doors, wide enough to hold a lot. We’re currently using it to hold winter gloves, scarves and hats of varying weights for two people, which it does easily.
